Equipment List for 3-week Bike Tour

To take a long self-supported bike tour means you don't mind wearing the same clothes, having minimal accessories and basically going without. Unless you haul a trailer, you just don't have enough room for anything but the essentials. Well, maybe just a few luxuries. (Todd brought waaaay less than I did!)
  • Basic toiletries: Biodegradable soap. I also bring skin toner since the road grime goes deep into the skin. Toothpaste and brush, floss and face moisturizer. Brush and hair ties.
  • “Comfort bag.” I have one bag that I pull out at night that has a very thin Ibex wool top, lightweight pile hoody, tights and wooly socks. After dunking in the river to wash, it feels great to be cozy. Todd brought no such thing and was fine.
  • One t-shirt for sleeping in and wearing around town.
  • A lightweight skirt
  • A little sundress
  • Bathing suit
  • Packtowel
  • Extra socks and two pairs of underwear.
  • Two jerseys and three pairs of cycling shorts
  • Rain pants and Jacket
  • Whisperlite Cookstove (it’s tiny!)
  • Small Duralite cookset
  • Coleman fuel bottle - small
  • Bike tools
  • Spare tubes
  • Sunblock
  • Electrolyte tablets like Nuun
  • Medical Kit (try to find some heavy duty pain reliever in case of accident deep in the woods)
  • Chromebook
  • Lara Bars
  • Some Hammer Gel packets for desperate times on the road. (It’s like Gu but better)
  • Watch
  • Cell phone
